Description
Fuel the horse that works hardest in your barn with Purina Omolene 200 Performance Horse Feed, a textured 14 percent protein ration built for competition horses, broodmares and yearlings. Multiple fuel sources are the whole point here: whole grains supply readily available energy for anaerobic bursts, while the Amplify high-fat nugget layers in fat from vegetable oils, flaxseed and rice bran for the long aerobic miles. Outlast gastric support rides along in every bite to help maintain proper stomach pH on the road, and complete vitamin and mineral fortification means no extra supplement is needed when you feed it with quality hay or pasture.
Key Features
- Amplify high-fat nugget: A proprietary fatty-acid blend from vegetable oils, flaxseed and rice bran that supports body condition, endurance and bloom.
- Multiple fuel sources: Balanced fat and soluble carbohydrates cover both aerobic and anaerobic work.
- Outlast gastric support: Helps maintain gastric health, comfort and proper pH through hauling and competition stress.
- Whole grain nutrition: Textured grains keep intake consistent for horses under a heavy workload.
- 14 percent protein with 0.70 percent lysine: Supports muscle development in performance horses and steady growth in yearlings.
- Broodmare and yearling ready: One bag covers gestation, lactation and young stock alongside competition horses.
Feeding Directions
Pair Omolene 200 with a minimum of 1 to 1.2 lb of clean hay or equivalent pasture per 100 lb of body weight. For a 1,000 lb horse, begin around 5.25 lb per day in light work, 7 lb in moderate work and 9 lb in heavy work. Early gestation mares start near 3.75 lb per day and late gestation mares near 5.5 lb, while a lactating 1,000 lb mare fed separately takes about 10 lb per day and a breeding stallion about 6.25 lb. Yearlings at 700 to 900 lb generally eat 7.25 to 9 lb per day, using the lower rate for moderate growth and the higher rate for faster growth. Mature horses should never drop below 0.3 lb per 100 lb of body weight daily, yearlings never below 0.75 lb per 100 lb, and no meal should carry more than 0.5 lb per 100 lb. Serve on a schedule at least twice a day, skip free-choice feeding entirely, and spread any switch across a week to ten days at a pound of change or less per horse daily. Salt and clean water stay out around the clock.
Caution: Keep the feed dry, well ventilated and safe from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed, which may cause illness, performance loss or death. Hold off feeding a hot, excited or painful horse, or one with a fever or diarrhea, and consult your veterinarian if anything seems off.
