Connect a gutter downspout to buried 4 in. corrugated drain pipe with the Advanced Drainage 4 in. Single Wall Downspout Adapter and move roof run-off away from the house instead of letting it pool at the foundation. The black HDPE fitting takes the downspout on top and snaps onto 4 in. single wall corrugated pipe below, with no glue, tape or clamp. Choose the 4" x 4.25" x 3" size (product code 0465AA) for a 3 in. by 4 in. downspout, or the 4" x 3.25" x 2.5" size (0464AA) for a 2 in. by 3 in. downspout.
Key Features
-
Two downspout sizes: The 4" x 4.25" x 3" adapter fits 3 x 4 in. downspouts and the 4" x 3.25" x 2.5" adapter fits 2 x 3 in. downspouts; both feed 4 in. single wall pipe.
-
Snap-fit connection: The pipe end snaps directly onto 4 in. single wall pipe for a quick, tool-free joint.
-
Foundation protection: Routing roof water into a drain line stops pooling at the base of the wall.
-
HDPE construction: High-density polyethylene does not rust underground and matches the pipe it joins.
-
About Advanced Drainage: Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) manufactures corrugated HDPE drainage pipe and the single wall fittings that join it, from adapters and reducers to snap couplers.
How to Install It
Measure the downspout outlet first, since a 2 x 3 in. and a 3 x 4 in. spout need different adapters. Slip the top of the adapter over the end of the downspout, then snap the other end onto a length of 4 in. single wall corrugated pipe. Run the pipe in a shallow trench that slopes away from the house to a lawn outlet or drywell, and join added lengths with a 4 in. snap coupler. Keep the adapter above grade so a clogged spout is easy to clear in fall. One adapter serves one downspout, so count your spouts before you shop.

ADS single wall downspout adapters (0465AA and 0464AA) transition a rectangular gutter downspout to 4 in. single wall corrugated HDPE pipe. The 4" x 4.25" x 3" unit (0465AA) takes a 3 x 4 in. spout; the 4" x 3.25" x 2.5" unit (0464AA) takes a 2 x 3 in. spout. Both are HDPE, black, and snap onto standard 4 in. single wall corrugation with no solvent, tape or band. Figure one adapter per downspout on the take-off and confirm spout size on site, since residential gutter runs mix 2 x 3 and 3 x 4 spouts more often than the plans show.
Key Features
- Two spout sizes: 0465AA for 3 x 4 in. downspouts, 0464AA for 2 x 3 in. downspouts; both terminate in a 4 in. single wall snap end.
- Snap connection: The corrugated end snaps directly onto 4 in. single wall pipe; join subsequent lengths with ADS 0412AA external snap couplers.
- Run-off control: Moves roof discharge into a piped line to daylight or a drywell instead of splash blocks, eliminating ponding and saturated backfill at the foundation.
- HDPE: High-density polyethylene matches the pipe material, does not corrode in contact with soil, and tolerates the freeze-thaw movement of a shallow trench.
- Case packs: Manufacturer packs 0465AA at 20 per case and 0464AA at 24 per case; Garoppo's sells each adapter individually for small jobs and service calls.
Installation
Cut the downspout square and slide the adapter's rectangular collar over the spout end; leave the adapter visible above grade so the owner can clear leaf debris. Snap the round end onto 4 in. single wall pipe and run the line in a trench with positive fall away from the structure, bedded and backfilled so the corrugation is fully supported. Terminate at a pop-up emitter, daylight outlet or drywell sized for the roof area served. Keep single wall pipe out of vehicular loading; where the run crosses a drive, transition to dual wall or a rigid pipe with the appropriate ADS adapter. In frost country, maintain fall through the whole run so the line drains empty between storms and does not hold water that can freeze at the outlet.
