How to Use It
Break the bale open on the coop floor and spread the shives into an even layer. For best results, mist the hemp lightly to increase absorbency before the birds move in. Spot-pick droppings under the roost bar every few days and stir the litter so wet patches dry out, and top up with fresh flakes as the layer thins. When it is time for a full change, shovel the spent bedding straight onto the compost heap, where the hemp and manure break down into a rich amendment for the vegetable beds. It suits all types of poultry and works in nest boxes as well as on the floor, but is not recommended for small tortoise habitats.
