Description

Finish steps and landings with the Belgard Belmont Stair Tread/Cap, a large-format concrete stair tread with a hand-chiseled, natural-stone look. At 52" × 13" × 2", each piece spans a full step in one drop — no cutting, no piecing together — with a smooth structured top to walk on and a chiseled front edge that reads like quarried bluestone. The Bluestone finish is a cool blue-grey. Belgard (Oldcastle APG) casts it from concrete with natural aggregates and backs it with a lifetime transferable limited warranty.

Why Choose the Belmont Stair Tread/Cap

  • Full-step format — one 52" piece covers a tread in a single drop, no cuts or piecing
  • Hand-chiseled edge — a natural quarried-stone look on the front face
  • Smooth structured top — a comfortable, sure-footed walking surface
  • Tread or cap — works as a stair tread or a wall and pier cap
  • Coordinates with Belmont Caps — match your steps to wall tops

How Much Do You Need?

Each tread is 52" long × 13" deep, covering about 4.7 square feet of step surface. Measure your total tread length, divide by the 52" piece length to estimate pieces, and add one for cuts at returns. Lay two back-to-back to build a full landing between elevations. (Coverage based on nominal dimensions — we’ll confirm at pickup.)

Where It Works

  • Front-entry and garden steps between patios, lawns, and terraces
  • Landings — set two treads back-to-back for the platform
  • Caps on seat walls, piers, and low garden walls
  • Pool-deck and outdoor-kitchen step transitions

Unlike natural bluestone that varies piece to piece and needs hand-fitting, the Belmont tread is a consistent large-format unit that drops in fast and delivers the chiseled-stone look without the quarry-stone price or labor.

How to Install the Belmont Stair Tread/Cap

  1. Build a level, compacted base or set the tread on a structural step core or concrete substrate.
  2. Dry-lay the tread to check overhang and fit; aim for a slight forward pitch to shed water.
  3. Set in a bed of polymer-modified mortar or hardscape adhesive and tap level.
  4. For landings, butt two treads back-to-back; for runs, align each step in the stack.
  5. Finish coordinating wall tops with Belmont Caps (sold separately).

It is sold by the square foot. Each tread is 52 inches long by 13 inches deep, about 4.7 square feet of step surface. Divide your total tread length by 52 inches for a piece count, and lay two back-to-back for a landing.
Both. The Belmont Stair Tread/Cap works as a single-piece stair tread or as a cap on seat walls, piers, and low garden walls.
A cool blue-grey, with a smooth structured top to walk on and a hand-chiseled front edge that reads like quarried bluestone. The color is cast through the concrete.
Set it on a level compacted base or a structural step core in polymer-modified mortar or hardscape adhesive, pitched slightly forward to drain. No cutting is needed since each piece spans a full tread.
It delivers the chiseled-stone look with consistent dimensions and color, so it sets faster and more predictably than natural bluestone, which varies piece to piece and needs hand-fitting.
