Description

Build the courses of a medium-height retaining wall with the Belgard Terrace Wall Block, the split-stone field unit of the Terrace Wall system. Its natural, hand-laid look stacks into garden walls, raised beds, and terraces, then wraps cleanly at ends and outside corners with the matching Terrace Wall Corner. Each block is 6" × 16" × 12" and is sold by the square foot of wall face. Belgard (Oldcastle APG) molds it from concrete with natural aggregates and through-body color, and backs it with a lifetime transferable limited warranty.

Color Choices

  • Dakota Blend — mixed brown-grey with natural variation
  • Harvest Blend — warm earth-tone brown
  • Pewter Blend — neutral warm grey

Why Choose the Terrace Wall Block

  • Split-stone face — a natural, hand-laid look that pairs with any landscape
  • Coordinates with the system — matches the Terrace Wall Corner and caps for a continuous wall
  • Through-body color — runs through the unit, so chips and saw cuts stay color-true
  • Hollow two-core design — core-fill with 3/4" clean stone for a stable, free-draining retaining wall
  • Gravity walls up to 30" — build taller with engineered geogrid reinforcement

How Much Do You Need?

Each block covers about 0.67 square foot of wall face (a 6"-high × 16"-long face), so roughly 1.5 pieces make one square foot. Measure the height and length of your wall in feet, multiply for square footage, and add about 5% for cuts. Order corners separately for ends and turns. (Coverage based on nominal face dimensions — we’ll confirm at pickup.)

Where It Works

  • Medium-height retaining walls and garden walls
  • Raised planting beds, terraced gardens, and tree rings
  • Seat walls, steps, and freestanding garden walls
  • Wall runs that finish with matching Terrace Wall corners and caps

Unlike poured concrete that needs forms and a long cure, the Terrace Wall Block dry-stacks by hand and core-fills with clean stone for a solid, free-draining segmental retaining wall you can build over a weekend.

How to Install Terrace Wall Block

  1. Excavate and compact a level, well-drained base trench, then set a leveling pad of crushed stone.
  2. Lay the first course dead level — it sets the line for the whole wall.
  3. Core-fill the hollow cores and backfill behind the wall with 3/4" clean stone for drainage.
  4. Stack and offset each course; add engineered geogrid if the wall exceeds 30" or carries a surcharge.
  5. Wrap ends and corners with Terrace Wall corners and finish with coordinating caps (sold separately).

It is sold by the square foot of wall face. Each block shows a 6-inch-high by 16-inch-long face, so about 1.5 pieces make one square foot. Multiply your wall height by run length for square footage and add about 5% for cuts. Order corners separately for ends and turns.
Yes. The color is integrated through the body of the concrete, so cuts, chips, and worn edges stay color-true instead of exposing grey.
As a gravity wall, up to about 30 inches. Taller walls or walls carrying a surcharge need engineered geogrid reinforcement; consult the Belgard installation guide or an engineer for your conditions.
Yes. Core-fill the hollow two-core block and backfill behind the wall with 3/4-inch clean stone. This locks the courses and keeps the retaining wall free-draining.
Yes. The block shares the split-stone face, texture, and color of the Terrace Wall Corner (6x16x8) and coordinating caps, so corners, ends, and tops all match (sold separately).
