Leaving corn out discourages blackbirds, grackles and other ground-feeding bullies, so cardinals, finches and grosbeaks get the feeder to themselves. With 20.00% crude fat, it is an exceptional winter feed. Available in 20 lb and 40 lb bags.

How to Use

To attract and enjoy the most bird activity, select a feeder and a feeder location suited to the birds you want to invite, ideally somewhere easily viewed from your favorite window. Hopper and platform feeders handle this mix well. Put out only what your birds clear in a few days so the seed stays fresh, and clear damp or clumped seed before you refill. Store the remainder closed in a cool, dry place, using a lidded container if the bag lives in a garage, shed or barn.

Corn is what pulls in blackbirds, grackles and other ground feeders that crowd out songbirds. Leaving it out keeps the feeder on cardinals, finches and grosbeaks instead of the flock that empties it.
It is formulated for cardinals, finches and grosbeaks, and the sunflower and safflower content also brings in chickadees, nuthatches and titmice. Northern Cardinals go for the white safflower in particular.
It works all year but shines in winter, since 20.00% crude fat gives birds the energy they burn holding body heat. Many feeders switch to it once night temperatures start dropping.
Less than most mixes. The sunflower chips and peanut hearts have no shells at all, and with no red millet or red milo filler there is far less seed kicked to the ground uneaten.
