Description

Give a tiny succulent the silliest home on the shelf with the Cohasset Gifts & Gardens Chester Donkey Planter. Chester is a little grey-green donkey flat on his back, hooves in the air, with a long muzzle, a pale belly and two pop-out eyes staring up at you. The planting pocket opens in his tummy, so a small cactus or sedum sprouts skyward between his legs. At just 2-1/2 inches tall, this Blobhouse donkey planter is a desk-sized piece of garden humor, perfect for a windowsill, an office or a gift bag.

Key Features

  • Upside-down pose: Chester lies on his back with all four legs in the air, a design you will not find in an ordinary pot.
  • Belly opening: The 1-1/2 by 2-3/4 inch pocket suits one small succulent, a cactus pup or a rooted cutting.
  • Drain hole: Even at this size, a drain hole in the base lets excess water escape.
  • Stony grey finish: A mottled grey-green surface with a pale muzzle and belly, plus bright painted eyes.
  • About Cohasset Gifts & Gardens: The Blobhouse animal planters are designed by artist Gesine Kratzner and brought to garden centers by Cohasset Gifts & Gardens.

How to Use It

Plant Chester with something small and upright. A single haworthia, a young echeveria, a sedum cutting or a small cactus fills the pocket without hiding his face. Use a gritty mix, water sparingly and let the pocket dry before watering again. Chester belongs at eye level, on a desk, a kitchen window, a bookshelf or a bathroom sill where his expression gets noticed. Outdoors, tuck him into a fairy garden, a trough planter or beside a doorstep. Group him with the other Blobhouse barnyard animals like Lil Red Hen and Wilbur the Rooster, and whisk dust away with a soft brush.
