Description

Dress the Thanksgiving table with the Cohasset Gifts & Gardens Rosie Turkey Planter and let a wide-eyed hen hold the centerpiece. Rosie has a plump, rust-brown body, a fanned tail and a tucked wing tipped in cream, and a slate-blue head with an orange beak and a long orange wattle that hangs down her chest. Her googly eyes peer over the rim in mild alarm. The planting opening sits in her back, so an aloe, a tuft of grass or a mum becomes a spray of tail feathers. At 5 inches tall, this Blobhouse turkey planter brings a laugh to any fall arrangement.

Key Features

  • Full turkey details: Fanned tail feathers, a tucked wing, a blue head and a dangling orange wattle make Rosie unmistakably a turkey from every side.
  • Back opening: The plant rises from her back and reads as plumage, so almost anything green completes the picture.
  • Drain hole: Every Blobhouse planter has a drain hole, so the mix drains after each watering.
  • Seasonal and beyond: Rosie is a natural for November, and she stays cheerful on a windowsill the rest of the year.
  • About Cohasset Gifts & Gardens: The Blobhouse line of animal planters was designed by artist Gesine Kratzner and is distributed by Cohasset Gifts & Gardens, which sells it through garden centers.

How to Use It

Plant Rosie with a small aloe, a spiky haworthia or a tuft of ornamental grass for feathers that stand up, or drop in a small potted mum for a burst of autumn color. Use a fast-draining mix and set her on a saucer indoors, since water runs out the drain hole. Water when the mix dries out. Place the turkey planter at the center of the Thanksgiving table, on the sideboard beside the gravy, or on the kitchen windowsill through the fall. She also works outdoors on a covered porch table with a few gourds around her feet; bring her inside before hard frost. Pair Rosie with Mel the Mallard for a barnyard pair.

The catalog lists Rosie at 5 inches tall. Her fanned tail and raised head make her read larger than her height suggests.
No. Rosie is sold as the planter only. The aloe in the photo shows how a spiky plant looks rising from her back.
Yes. Like every Blobhouse planter from Cohasset Gifts & Gardens, Rosie drains from the bottom, so use a saucer on the table.
Yes. Plant her with a small mum, an aloe or ornamental grass and set her in the middle of the table. She is small enough not to block the view across the table.
