How to Install It
Drive a sturdy stake into firm ground a few inches outside the root ball, on the side the prevailing wind comes from. Loop the strap around the trunk about a third of the way up, loose enough to slip a finger underneath, then pass the wire ends around the stake and twist them together. Use two stakes and two ties on opposite sides for a taller or top-heavy tree. Check the ties every few weeks and loosen them as the trunk thickens, then take them off once the tree stands on its own, usually after the first full year. The ties also brace tall shrubs and heavy-headed perennials to a stake.
