Bring a branch drain into the main line at the angle it needs with the Genova 41040 4 in. PVC Wye. The white fitting has three 4 in. solvent-weld hubs: two in line for the main run and one angled off at 45 degrees for the branch, so downspout, footing drain or sump discharge lines merge smoothly instead of hitting the main head-on. Add a cleanout adapter and plug to the branch hub and the same wye becomes an access point for clearing the line. Molded PVC will not rust or corrode underground and is made in the USA.
Key Features
-
Hub x hub x hub: All three openings accept 4 in. pipe with primer and solvent cement.
-
45-degree branch: Sweeps a horizontal branch line into a straight drain or sewer run with the flow.
-
Cleanout ready: Fit the branch with a cleanout plug to give the piping access for rodding.
-
White PVC: Corrosion-proof, light to handle and joined with standard PVC cement; made in the USA.

About Genova: The 41040 wye belongs to Genova’s 4 in. PVC drain, waste and sewer fitting line, which also includes a Schedule 40 DWV version (71040).
How to Install It
Dig the trench to grade and set the main run on firm bedding. Position the wye so the angled hub points toward the incoming branch and sweeps in the direction of flow. Cut all pipe ends square, deburr them and dry-fit the three legs, marking each pipe at full insertion depth. Prime the hubs and pipe ends, apply cement, push each pipe home with a quarter turn and hold for a few seconds. If this junction will serve as a cleanout, glue an adapter into the branch hub, thread in a plug and bring it to the surface inside a small box. Backfill around the fitting with clean material so the hubs are supported evenly, and keep the run sloping downhill through the wye.

Spec the Genova 41040 4 in. PVC Wye where a branch drain has to enter a horizontal run at 45 degrees. Hub x hub x hub configuration accepts 4 in. pipe on all three legs with standard solvent-weld joints. The 45-degree geometry keeps flow moving in the direction of the main so solids are carried rather than dropped at the junction, and the branch leg doubles as a cleanout location when fitted with an adapter and plug. Use it on footing drains, downspout collectors, sump discharge and gravity sewer laterals where a 90-degree tee would create turbulence and a snag point. White PVC, molded in the USA, joined with standard primer and solvent cement so the crew needs no special tooling in the trench.
Key Features
- Hub x hub x hub: All three connections are 4 in. solvent-weld hubs; no transition fittings needed on straight 4 in. runs.
- 45-degree branch: Sweeps the branch into the main at the angle code expects for horizontal-to-horizontal drainage.
- Cleanout ready: Fit the branch with a cleanout adapter and threaded plug to give the line rodding access.
- PVC: Corrosion proof, light for handling in the trench, joined with primer and cement.
- Take-off: One wye per branch entry; add one cleanout adapter and plug per access point, plus primer and cement for three 4 in. joints. Order a 22.5- or 45-degree elbow with each wye when the branch approaches off-axis.
Installation
Set the main on compacted bedding with the wye branch oriented to the incoming line and the sweep pointing downstream. Cut pipe square, deburr, dry-fit all three legs and mark insertion depth. Prime hub and spigot, apply cement, insert with a quarter turn and hold. Maintain grade through the fitting so the branch does not create a belly. On sump, footing drain and downspout tie-ins, use the branch as the cleanout and bring the plug to grade in a box. Backfill with select material and compact in lifts to avoid point loading the hub. Where the wye sits under a lawn, hold the top of the fitting at least 12 in. below finished grade to keep it clear of aeration and edging tools. In freeze-prone ground, keep the run draining so no water stands in the branch over winter.
