How to Use

Feed by body weight and adjust the rate to the condition of the horse. Yearlings from 12 to 18 months take 0.75 to 1.10 pounds per 100 pounds of body weight daily, while mature horses in light exercise need 0.40 to 0.65 pounds and horses in very heavy work take 0.75 to 1.35 pounds. Lactating mares four to six months out take 0.80 to 1.20 pounds and breeding stallions 0.40 to 0.70 pounds. These rates assume grass or mixed grass hay. Provide good-quality hay or pasture, free-choice salt and plenty of fresh water at all times, and store the bag in a cool, dry place. This feed contains supplemental copper, so never feed it to sheep.

Change feeds gradually over seven to ten days, replacing about a quarter of the old ration every couple of days until the switch is complete. Weigh the feed rather than scooping it, since Inspire Charger runs about 1.2 pounds per quart. Watch manure and attitude through the transition and slow down if anything changes.
It is built for horses with real calorie demand: yearlings and two-year-olds still growing, performance horses in moderate to very heavy work, broodmares in late gestation or lactation, and breeding stallions. Easy keepers in light work will usually hold condition on a lower-calorie ration instead.
Textured feed is a loose blend of oats, corn, barley and pellets coated with molasses and vegetable oil rather than a uniform pellet. Horses chew it longer, which encourages salivation and can aid digestion, and most horses accept it readily even when they are stressed or traveling.
Keep the bag in a cool, dry place off the floor and use it within a few weeks, since feed can spoil under damp or hot conditions. Charger is already fortified with vitamins and complexed trace minerals, so check with your veterinarian before stacking additional mineral supplements on top of it.
