Description

Cover the forage gap with Inspire Trotter Horse Feed, a high-fiber pelleted complete feed for maintenance and performance horses with limited access to hay or pasture. It suits stabled horses, horses hauling to shows where good hay is scarce, horses with heaves or other respiratory concerns, and older horses that struggle to chew forage.

Key Features

  • High fiber, controlled starch: Alfalfa and soybean hulls meet the fiber requirement of the horse while low-starch ingredients help maintain digestive and metabolic health.
  • Complete feed flexibility: Fed at the higher rates it replaces most of the forage in the diet, or fed alongside grain it simply adds fiber to protect gut health.
  • Fixed ingredient formula: The same ingredients go into every batch, so your horse gets a consistent feed bag after bag and a stable gut environment.
  • Complexed trace minerals: Organic zinc, copper and manganese with bio-available selenium are supplied at optimum ratios to offset mineral imbalances in water and forage.
  • Antioxidant vitamins: Vitamins A, D, E and stable vitamin C guard against deficiencies, protect cell membrane and tissue integrity, and support the immune system.
  • B-complex vitamins with biotin: These help convert carbohydrates, fats and proteins into usable energy and support healthy skin, hair and hoof growth.
  • Low-dust pellet: A pellet is easier to chew than stemmy hay and carries far less dust, which matters for horses with respiratory trouble.

How to Use

Adjust the rate to the condition of the horse. Mature horses at maintenance take 0.45 to 0.80 pounds per 100 pounds of body weight daily, light exercise calls for 0.55 to 0.90 pounds and moderate exercise 0.65 to 1.00 pounds. Horses on diets with minimal hay take 1.25 to 1.75 pounds. A quart weighs about 1.35 pounds. Offer some good-quality hay whenever you can to maintain digestive function and prevent boredom, and always provide free-choice salt and plenty of fresh water. Store in a cool, dry place, and do not feed to sheep because this formula contains supplemental copper.

Go slowly, over ten to fourteen days, because you are changing the fiber source and not just the grain. Divide the daily amount into at least two and preferably three meals, since complete-feed rates are large. Keep an eye on manure consistency and back off the pace if it loosens.
It is formulated to do so at 1.25 to 1.75 pounds per 100 pounds of body weight for horses on minimal hay. Even then, offer some good-quality hay when you can, because chewing time keeps the gut working normally and gives a stabled horse something to do.
Baled hay carries dust and mold spores that irritate an already reactive airway. A pellet dramatically reduces that exposure, and it can be dampened before feeding to cut dust further. It is also easier to chew for older horses that quid or drop long-stem forage.
Yes. Many people feed Trotter as a partial ration alongside a higher-grain feed to add fiber and support digestive health. If you are feeding both, add up the total daily intake so the horse is not overfed, and store the bags sealed in a cool, dry place.
