Description
Control a sprinkler zone with a valve built to be opened, cleaned and put back to work with the Irritrol 2400S 1 in. Globe Valve, Slip x Slip. The black PVC globe body stands about 5 1/8 in. tall with 1 in. slip inlet and outlet ports for solvent-weld pipe, a threaded bonnet you can unscrew in the valve box, and an encapsulated 24 VAC solenoid on top. A double-beaded Santoprene diaphragm and a full stainless-steel metering system keep it sealing and cycling reliably from a trickle of 0.25 gpm up to 30 gpm, and internal and external bleed screws let you run the zone by hand. Irritrol backs it with a five-year warranty.

How to Install It
Set the valve in a box with the flow arrow pointing downstream and enough room above the bonnet to turn it. Prime and cement 1 in. PVC into the slip inlet and outlet, then connect one solenoid lead to the station wire and the other to the common with waterproof connectors. Flush the line by opening the external bleed before the first automatic cycle so grit does not lodge under the diaphragm. If a zone ever sticks open or will not open, unscrew the bonnet, rinse the diaphragm and seat, and reassemble; no pipe cutting needed. The 2400S has no flow control; choose the 2400SF if you want to throttle the zone. Pair it with a 12 in. x 17 in. valve box and a 24 VAC controller.
