Description
Stop wasting water on rainy days — the Irritrol® RS1000 wireless rain sensor watches the sky for you and pauses your irrigation controller the moment accumulated rainfall hits the threshold you set. The patented 418 MHz transmitter mounts on a gutter, fascia, or 1/2 in. conduit; the receiver wires into any 24 VAC controller’s sensor terminal — or breaks the valve common on controllers that don’t have one. No trenching, no wire run from the sensor to the cabinet, no neighbor wondering why your zones are running in the middle of a downpour.
Why Irrigation Pros Pick the RS1000
- Patented wireless RF — transmitter and receiver stay in constant communication, so the controller knows the “wet” or “dry” status even after a power outage
- Over 300 ft line-of-sight range — mount the sensor where rainfall actually lands, not where the wire reaches
- Adjustable shutoff threshold — 1/8 in., 1/4 in., 1/2 in., 3/4 in., or 1 in. of accumulated rainfall, set with a twist of the cap
- Adjustable dry-out rate — close the vent ring to keep zones off longer after the rain stops; open it for the fastest reset
- Smart Bypass — push the button once to skip the next cycle without reprogramming; resets automatically
- Signal strength + sensor status LEDs — verify the install at a glance, every time
- 5-year battery life — two CR2032 cells, pre-installed, with a low-battery blink alert on the receiver
- Power-failure memory — the receiver remembers its state when the controller cycles
- Mounts three ways out of the box — Quick-Clip gutter bracket, fascia screws, or 1/2 in. conduit adapter (all included)
- 5-year manufacturer warranty
Where It Shines
- Residential and light-commercial irrigation where pulling sensor wire to the controller cabinet isn’t practical
- Local water-conservation ordinances that require a rain shutoff device on every irrigation system
- Municipal rebate programs that credit homeowners for installing smart controllers and rain sensors
- Service calls where the existing wired sensor failed and a wireless retrofit is the fastest fix
- HOA-managed properties where every controller in the loop needs a sensor on the same roof

How It Installs — Quick Overview
Mount the receiver next to (or inside) the irrigation controller cabinet using the stainless screws or foam tape; antenna up. Run the five color-coded wires the short distance to the controller:
- Red × 2 — controller’s 24 VAC power terminals
- White + Brown — sensor terminal, Normally Closed (or break the valve common on controllers without a sensor input)
- White + Yellow — sensor terminal, Normally Open
Outside, clip the transmitter to a gutter, fascia, or piece of 1/2 in. conduit with the antenna pointing straight down, away from sprinkler spray. The transmitter and receiver are paired at the factory — hold the transmitter spindle at close range to test, and the receiver’s Power, Signal, and Sensor Status LEDs all light. If you ever need to re-pair, hold the receiver’s Smart Bypass button 7–10 seconds (Learn Mode) and press the transmitter spindle.
Compatibility
The RS1000 works with virtually any irrigation controller that accepts a Normally Open or Normally Closed rain switch on its 24 VAC bus. That covers nearly every modern residential and commercial controller — Irritrol, Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Orbit, and the rest. On controllers without a dedicated sensor input, wire the receiver in series on the valve common (the user’s guide covers this method step-by-step).
