Description
Ivy Classic 3 in. T-shank bi-metal jigsaw blades in a 3-pack, ground specifically for cutting thin metal under 1/8 in. (mild steel sheet, aluminum sheet, copper, thin tubing). 24 TPI milled-tooth wavy-set profile gives a clean finish on sheet metal without snagging or tearing. Bi-metal construction with 8% cobalt high-speed-steel teeth flash-welded to a flexible spring-steel body — teeth stay sharp under heat, body bends instead of snapping when the cut binds.
Pack Contents
- 3 blades per pack — bulk-pack for production use; each blade individually replaceable in the jigsaw without unpacking the rest
- Each blade: 3 in. total length, 24 TPI, T-shank, .035 in. body thickness
What These Are For
- Thin sheet metal cutting (under 1/8 in. / ~3 mm) — mild steel sheet, aluminum sheet, copper, brass, thin-walled tubing. 24 TPI is fine enough that at least 3 teeth are engaged with the work at any time, which is the cutoff for chatter-free cuts in sheet metal
- HVAC ductwork: trimming galvanized duct, sheet metal supply collars, plenum tabs
- Metal trim cutting: drip edge, J-channel, flashing
- Auto and equipment repair: trimming body panels, patch metal, small-tube cutting
- Light fabrication: trim cuts on punched plate, slot extension, hole-extension cuts
What These Are NOT For
- Thick metal (1/8 in. and up): use a coarser blade (10-14 TPI). 24 TPI in thick metal will glaze and burn out fast.
- Wood: way too fine. Wood-cutting jigsaw blades are 6-10 TPI; 24 TPI will burn wood and finish slow.
- Hardened steel: for spring steel, hardened plate, or stainless above 18-gauge, step up to a carbide-grit blade. Bi-metal will work but dulls fast.
T-Shank Tool Fitment
T-shank is the modern jigsaw blade standard, used on virtually every quality jigsaw made since the late 1990s. These blades fit:
- Bosch (all current models)
- DeWalt (all current models)
- Hitachi / Metabo HPT
- Craftsman (current T-shank models)
- Makita
- Metabo
- Milwaukee (M12 and M18 jigsaws, corded)
- Porter Cable
Older U-shank jigsaws (mostly pre-2000 saws) won't accept these. Check your jigsaw's blade slot — if the blade has a tang with a horizontal groove (T-shape from the side), it takes T-shank.

Use Notes
Slow the saw down on metal. Most jigsaws have a variable-speed trigger or dial — for metal under 1/8 in., run at the slower end (~1500-2000 SPM) and let the teeth do the cutting. Full speed throws sparks and burns the temper out of the blade.
Lubricate the cut. A drop of cutting oil or even WD-40 on the blade extends life dramatically when cutting metal. Wax-based cutting compounds (Tap Magic, Trim-Tap) work even better for non-ferrous metals.
Let the blade do the work. Don't push hard — the blade cuts on the upstroke (T-shanks point downward in the saw). Pressing into the cut bends the blade and breaks teeth.
Clamp the work piece. Sheet metal vibrates more than wood; an unclamped sheet will chatter, ruin the cut, and dull the blade in seconds. Use a backing board (scrap wood) under thin sheets to dampen vibration.
Watch for the “3 teeth in the work” rule. 24 TPI = teeth ~0.04 in. apart — perfect for metal down to about 16-gauge. On thinner stock (24-gauge and below), the teeth can hook the edge instead of cutting. If you're cutting metal that thin, drop to a 32 TPI blade or use shears.
