Kaytee Chew-Proof Water Bottle

Description

Rabbits and ferrets chew everything, and a plastic water bottle is usually the first casualty. The Kaytee Chew-Proof Water Bottle answers that with a glass bottle and a stainless steel cap and sipper tube, so there is nothing soft enough for a determined chewer to destroy. Pick 12 ounce for guinea pigs, chinchillas and rabbits in a standard habitat, or 26 ounce for ferrets, full-size rabbits and anything that empties a small bottle by mid-afternoon. Both sizes use the same spring attachment hanger, which clips the bottle securely to wire cage panels from inside or outside, and the same double ball-bearing sipper tube that resists the constant dripping that soaks bedding. A floating duck rides on the water line as a refill reminder you can read across the room.

Key Features

  • Durable chew-proof glass bottle with a stainless steel cap and sipper tube
  • Spring attachment hanger holds the bottle securely inside or outside any wire home
  • Unique double ball-bearing sipper tube resists drips
  • Clear glass makes the water level easy to check at a glance
  • Includes the floating duck refill reminder
  • 12 ounce suits guinea pigs, chinchillas and rabbits; 26 ounce suits ferrets and full-size rabbits

How to Use

  • Remove the hanger, rinse the bottle and fill to the maximum fill line — do not overfill, as the bottle needs an air pocket to dispense.
  • Screw the cap on tightly and flip the bottle over.
  • Clip the spring attachment hanger to the wire cage, then slide the bottle in so it rests on the security hanger.
  • Set the sipper tube at a height your pet reaches with their head level, not stretched up.
  • Expect a few drops while the vacuum forms; that is normal and stops on its own.
  • Empty, rinse and refill daily, and run a bottle brush through it weekly.

Bottles are one of the few small-animal items genuinely worth buying once and buying properly. A plastic bottle chewed through overnight means a pet without water and a cage full of it, and rabbits and ferrets get through plastic quickly. Glass and stainless steel removes that risk entirely. Check the sipper tube every day when you refill — a stuck ball bearing is the one failure mode left, and a quick tap to confirm water releases takes two seconds and tells you the bottle is working.

12 ounce suits guinea pigs, chinchillas and rabbits in a standard habitat. 26 ounce suits ferrets, full-size rabbits and anything that empties a small bottle by mid-afternoon.
The bottle is glass and the cap and sipper tube are stainless steel, so there is no plastic for a rabbit or ferret to gnaw through. That is what makes it last where plastic bottles fail.
A few drops are normal while the vacuum forms. If it keeps dripping, the bottle is overfilled — empty it back to the maximum fill line so there is an air pocket at the top.
Yes. The spring attachment hanger works from inside or outside any wire home, which keeps the bottle away from chewers and frees up floor space.
It rides on the water surface as a refill reminder. When the duck drops out of sight, the bottle needs topping up.
