Description

Accelerate germination and protect new seed with Lebanon PennMulch seed mulch. Lock in moisture, limit erosion, and finish cleaner than straw. Spread it quickly, see where you covered, and help seed stay put through wind and rain. Put it to work on your next repair, overseed, or full lawn renovation.

Key Features

  • Moisture retention: Hold water at the surface so seed stays damp and sprouts evenly.
  • Erosion control: Shield new seed from washouts on slopes and bare patches.
  • Uniform coverage: Get a consistent layer that improves seed-to-soil contact.
  • Clean handling: Avoid messy straw cleanup and reduce windblown debris on site.
  • Easy application: Apply by hand or with a spreader for fast, even results.

Applications

Use for new lawns, overseeding thin turf, patch repairs, and high-traffic recoveries. Rely on it for residential yards, commercial installs, sports turf, and roadside or slope work where holding seed matters.

Specifications

  • Type: Pelletized lawn seeding mulch
  • Material: Paper-based fibers with binding agents
  • Form: Dry pellets that expand and knit together when watered
  • Coverage: Follow bag label rates; increase on slopes or windy sites
  • Color: Natural tone; darkens when wet for easy visual confirmation

Apply after spreading seed. Lightly rake to improve seed-to-soil contact, then water to activate the mulch. Keep the area consistently moist until turf is established, then transition to a normal watering schedule.

What Do the Numbers 1-2-0.5 Mean?

Every fertilizer label shows three numbers — the NPK ratio. They list the percentage of three nutrients in the bag, always in this order: Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K).

  • Nitrogen (N) drives leafy top-growth and deep green color.
  • Phosphorus (P) builds strong roots and helps new seed, sod, and transplants get established.
  • Potassium (K) toughens plant cells for stress tolerance — heat, cold, drought, foot traffic, and disease resistance.

This bag is 1-2-0.5 — meaning roughly 1% nitrogen, 2% phosphorus, and 0.5% potassium by weight. The 1-2-0.5 ratio is intentionally light — PennMulch is a seeding mulch first and a fertilizer second. Spread at the label rate it delivers a full starter-feed equivalent to a standard 10-20-5 application, perfectly timed to feed germinating seedlings while the pellets hold moisture and keep seed in place.
