How to Use It
Prepare a new bed by loosening the native soil, then spread the garden soil over the surface and mix it into the top 6 inches. For individual plantings, dig the hole, blend garden soil into the excavated dirt and backfill around the root ball. Water well after planting to settle the soil and activate the plant food. As a rough guide each cubic foot covers about 3 square feet at a 6 inch depth, so this 2 cu ft bag improves a small annual border or a couple of tomato plantings; the label gives exact rates. Because the plant food lasts about three months, hold off on additional feeding until midseason. Keep it out of containers; use a potting mix there instead.
