Description

Feed the dog that works hard in bursts with Native® Level 1, a performance dry dog food built for canines with light activity levels punctuated by periods of elevated work, and for dogs that hold weight easily on regular exercise. Built on lamb meal with no corn, wheat or soy, it also suits dogs sensitive to chicken, pork or beef.

Key Features

  • 24% protein and 14% fat: High-quality real meat proteins fuel metabolic needs and help maintain lean muscle on an active dog.
  • Wholesome grains: Brown rice, barley and oats carry the calories, and the recipe contains no corn, wheat or soy.
  • Heart health: Protein-building nutrients, omega-3 fatty acids and trace minerals support heart muscle and tissue integrity and help regulate cardiovascular function.
  • Hip and joint support: Copper, calcium and omega-3 fatty acids keep bones strong and help regulate cartilage regeneration and thickness, which shows up as better performance.
  • NutriVantage® Nutrition Optimizer® for Dogs: An exclusive blend of organic macromolecules, trace minerals, antioxidants and chelating agents supplements the digestive tract.
  • Perfect Paws: Specially complexed bio-available zinc, copper and manganese have been shown to enhance paw pad thickness and integrity in working dogs.
  • Prebiotics and antioxidants: Together they support digestive health, a healthy immune system, and a glossy skin and coat.

How to Use

Feed by body weight and age using the guidelines on the bag, then adjust according to the condition of your dog. A standard 8-ounce measuring cup holds about 4 ounces, or a quarter pound, of Native, and this formula runs 400 calories per cup. Puppies may start nibbling at four to five weeks, and moistening the kibble can improve acceptance. Feed puppies three times daily up to six months of age and twice daily from six months to one year. Offer 50% more food during pregnancy and two to three times the normal amount during lactation. Provide plenty of fresh water, and store the bag sealed in a cool, dry place.

Mix the new food into the old over about a week, increasing the share of Native every couple of days until the change is complete. Start from the guidelines on the bag for your dog's weight, then adjust by body condition. Moistening the kibble can help a fussy dog accept it.
It fits canines with light activity levels that see periods of elevated work, and dogs that maintain weight easily even with regular exercise. Dogs in heavier or more sustained work, and those that struggle to hold condition, usually do better on a higher-calorie level in the Native line.
The formula is built on lamb meal with salmon and fish meal, so it is often chosen for dogs sensitive to chicken, pork or beef. It also contains no corn, wheat or soy. Any dog with a diagnosed food allergy should still be transitioned under veterinary guidance.
Fresh meat can be three-quarters water, so much of it cooks away during production and the finished food holds less meat than the label suggests. Meal contains under 10% water, which means the actual meat content stays high after processing.
