How to Install It
Choose the 12 in. kit when the 9 in. basin would overflow, such as a downspout serving a large roof or a lawn low spot fed from several directions. Excavate the pit and trench with a steady fall toward the discharge point, snap the adapters onto the pipe and push them into the keyed openings. Seal the unused opening with the plug, or run pipe through both for a mid-line junction. Set the grate slightly below finished grade, backfill in layers and tamp around the basin. Clean the sump each spring and fall by lifting the grate and scooping out silt. Finish the run with an NDS pop-up emitter.

Installation
Excavate to the invert from the NDS 12 in. catch basin landscape detail and set the basin on compacted bedding with the grate slightly below finished grade. In turf, hold the grate about 1/2 in. to 1 in. low so grass cannot bridge the face; in paver fields, set it flush and cut pavers to the rim. Hold positive fall on the outlet line and pull inverts from the NDS invert table where the run has to clear footings or utilities. For traffic areas, build to the 12 in. pedestrian and vehicular installation detail, which changes the bedding and surround; NDS does not publish a load class on the product page, so quote the detail rather than a rating. Use the riser details when the basin sits deep. Backfill in lifts and tamp around the body. Blank the unused opening with the plug unless the basin is a mid-run junction, and terminate at a pop-up emitter or daylight with enough fall to empty the pipe after the event so the line does not hold water through a freeze.
