How to Install It
Dig the basin pit at the lowest point of the wet area and trench toward the discharge point with a steady downhill grade. Snap an outlet adapter onto the drain pipe, push it into a keyed side opening and use the second adapter for a through-line or seal the opening with the plug. Bed the basin so the grate sits just below finished grade, then backfill and tamp around the body. Under a downspout, set the grate directly beneath the outlet. Lift the grate a few times a year to scoop leaves out of the sump, and finish the run with an NDS pop-up emitter.

Installation
Excavate to the invert shown on the NDS 9 in. catch basin landscape detail and set the basin on compacted bedding so the grate finishes slightly below surrounding grade. In lawn, hold the grate 1/2 in. to 1 in. low so turf does not bridge the grate face; in paver work, set it flush with the paver surface and cut pavers to the basin rim. Maintain positive fall on the outlet line and confirm the invert from the NDS catch basin invert table when the run has to clear a footing or utility. Under vehicular loading, follow the pedestrian and vehicular installation detail, which changes the bedding and surround; the product page does not publish a load class, so quote the detail rather than a rating. Backfill in lifts and tamp around the basin body to keep it from shifting. Plug the second opening unless the basin is a mid-run junction. Terminate the line at a pop-up emitter or daylight outlet with enough fall to drain the pipe after the event; in this climate a line that holds water freezes.
