Join Mini Channel drain sections into one continuous run with the NDS Mini Channel Drain Coupling. This small gray PVC fitting connects the ends of two Mini Channel pieces, tees or elbows and locks the layout together, so the channel carries water as a single unit instead of a row of loose segments. The molded body matches the Mini Channel profile, and the plastic is treated with UV inhibitors so it holds up on sun-exposed pool decks and patios. NDS part number 548 is the standard coupling for the Mini Channel line.
Key Features
-
Custom layouts: Connect straight channel sections, tees and elbows in any arrangement to route runoff around a pool, patio, tennis court or walkway.
-
UV-treated PVC: Molded from polyvinyl chloride with UV inhibitors, so the gray plastic resists sun damage in exposed installations.
-
Matched to Mini Channel: Sized for the NDS Mini Channel profile, the light-flow member of the Profile Series channel drain family.
-
Light and simple: At roughly 0.12 lb, the coupling adds almost nothing to the run and needs no special tools to place.
-
About NDS: NDS makes the Profile Series channel drains, including the Mini Channel and Spee-D lines, along with the couplings, outlets and end caps that complete a run.
How to Install It
Lay out the full drain run before you set any concrete. Dry-fit each Mini Channel section end to end and place a coupling at every joint, including where a tee or elbow meets straight channel. Keep the channel tops level with the finished surface and the run pitched toward the outlet. Once the layout is right, set the channel in its concrete bed with the couplings in place, then finish the slab or paver field up to the channel edge. Use a Mini Channel end outlet at the low end to tie into pipe. Count one coupling per joint and add a spare or two for field cuts.

The NDS Mini Channel Drain Coupling (part 548) is the joint fitting for Mini Channel runs. Spec one coupling at every connection between straight channel, tees and elbows. The gray PVC body is molded to the Mini Channel profile and treated with UV inhibitors, which matters on pool decks, spa surrounds and paver patios where the channel line sees full sun year round. Mini Channel is the light-flow member of the NDS Profile Series, so this coupling belongs on pedestrian and pool-deck work, not on heavy vehicular runs. Because the coupling is the only part that repeats at every joint, its count drives the accessory order more than any other fitting.
Key Features
- Layout flexibility: Connects channel to channel and channel to tee or elbow, so you can wrap a run around a pool, follow an L-shaped patio or tee into a second leg without custom fabrication.
- UV-stable PVC: Polyvinyl chloride with UV inhibitors holds its color and strength in exposed installations and does not go brittle after a few seasons of freeze-thaw and sun.
- System match: Sized specifically for the Mini Channel profile. Do not substitute Spee-D fittings; Spee-D uses part 248.
- Take-off: Count joints on the layout drawing, one coupling each, then add two to three percent for field cuts and damaged pieces. Catalog weight is 0.12 lb, so freight is negligible.
- About NDS: NDS manufactures the Profile Series channel drains (Mini Channel and Spee-D) and the matching couplings, outlets and end caps, so the whole run comes from one system.
How to Install It
Dry-fit the complete run on grade before placing concrete. Set couplings at every joint, confirm the channel tops finish flush with the adjacent surface and hold a consistent fall to the outlet. Bed the channel in concrete with couplings in place and pour against both sides so the assembly cannot shift or float. On paver decks, finish the paver field tight to the channel edge over the concrete haunch. Terminate the low end with the Mini Channel end outlet (part 546) to 2 in. Schedule 40 and close the high end. Refer to the NDS Profile Channel installation manual and the Mini Channel pedestrian, pool deck and vehicular details for bedding depth and concrete encasement.
