Description

Give your drain line a clean point of release with the NDS Pop-Up Drainage Emitter with Elbow and Adapter 3 in. and 4 in., the green spring-loaded outlet that closes itself when the water stops. Connect the elbow to 3 in. or 4 in. drain pipe at the end of a downspout or catch basin run and set the cover flush with the turf. When water pressure builds, the cap lifts as high as 1 in. and sends the flow across the grass, away from foundations and eroding beds. Once the flow tapers off, the cap drops shut to keep debris and rodents out.

Key Features

  • Spring-Loaded Cap: A stainless 302 spring lifts the cap up to 1 in. under water pressure and closes it as flow diminishes.
  • Flow Rate: NDS lists discharge up to 56 GPM; the tech spec shows 43.26 GPM at 1 in. of head and 0.04 PSI opening pressure.
  • Pipe Fit: Fits 3 in. and 4 in. single-wall corrugated pipe and 4 in. Sch. 40 with the adapter; remove the adapter for 3 in. sewer and drain or triple-wall pipe.
  • Weep Hole and Flange: A weep hole in the elbow drains standing water so the line does not stagnate or freeze, and the flange keeps grass from growing over the cover.
  • About the NDS Emitter Line: NDS builds the 430 kit with an HDPE cap and cover and a PVC elbow and publishes its own installation detail.

How to Install It

Run the drain line downhill from the catch basin or downspout to a spot where discharged water can spread across open lawn. Dig a shallow pit at the end of the trench, seat the elbow weep hole down and connect the pipe, using the adapter for corrugated or Sch. 40. Set the flange flush with the turf and bed a few inches of gravel under the elbow so weep water can soak away. Mow right over the closed cover. If the cap sticks, lift it, rinse out grit and let the spring reseat it.
