Link Spee-D channel sections into one continuous drain with the NDS Spee-D Channel Drain Coupling. The gray PVC coupler joins straight channel to straight channel and also connects outlets, elbows, tees and crosses, so you can build a custom layout that follows the shape of a driveway, patio or pool surround. Every joint in a Spee-D run needs one, which makes the coupling the piece to count first when you plan materials. UV inhibitors in the PVC keep the plastic from breaking down in full sun. NDS part number 248.
Key Features
-
Joins every component: Connects Spee-D channel sections and accessories including outlets, elbows, tees and crosses.
-
Firm connection: Locks onto the end of the Spee-D channel so joints stay aligned through the concrete pour.
-
UV-treated PVC: Polyvinyl chloride with UV inhibitors for exposed driveways, patios and pool decks.
-
Profile Channel series: Made for the 4-3/4 in. wide Spee-D channel, the light-to-moderate flow member of the NDS Profile family.
-
About NDS: NDS designs the Spee-D channel system as a kit of parts, and this coupling is the fitting the company specifies for every Spee-D joint.
How to Install It
Sketch the run and mark every point where two pieces meet, then set aside one coupling for each. Cut channel sections to length with a saw, dry-fit the run with couplings at each joint, and confirm the tops line up flush and the run falls toward the outlet. Add elbows, tees or crosses where the drain changes direction or picks up a second leg, coupling each to the channel. Bed the assembled run in concrete and pour against both sides so the joints cannot shift. Finish with a Spee-D end cap on the closed end and an end outlet on the discharge end.

NDS Spee-D Channel Drain Coupling, part 248, is the joint fitting for the Spee-D system. It connects channel to channel and channel to outlets, elbows, tees and crosses, which makes it the single most repeated part on any Spee-D take-off. Gray PVC with UV inhibitors matches the channel body. Spec it on driveway aprons, concrete and paver patios, pool decks, courtyards and walkways wherever Spee-D handles light to moderate flow. Because the same part serves straight joints and every fitting connection, one coupling count on the take-off covers the entire run.
Key Features
- Universal joint: One coupling covers every connection type in the Spee-D line, so there is one SKU to stock for joints.
- Alignment: Connects firmly to the channel end and holds sections in line while concrete is placed against the sides.
- UV-stable PVC: Same polyvinyl chloride with UV inhibitors as the channel, so exposed joints do not become the weak point.
- Take-off: Count joints on the layout: sections minus one per straight run, plus one at each elbow, tee, cross or outlet connection. Add a few for field cuts. Catalog weight 0.40 lb.
- About NDS: NDS manufactures the Profile Series channel drains (Mini Channel and Spee-D) and the matching couplings, outlets and end caps, so the whole run comes from one system.
How to Install It
Cut sections to length, dry-fit the run with a coupling at every joint and verify fall to the outlet before bedding. Where the layout turns or branches, couple elbows, tees or crosses to the channel and check that tops stay flush across the fitting. Bed in concrete and haunch both sides per the NDS Profile Channel installation manual so joints cannot open under load or heave in freeze-thaw. Use the pedestrian detail for patios and pool decks and the vehicular detail for driveways. Cap the high end with end cap 247 and finish the low end with the Spee-D end outlet or offset end outlet 249 to 3 in. or 4 in. sewer and drain pipe. Keep a handful of spare couplings on the truck; a single missing joint fitting holds up the whole pour.
