Description

Feed your light- to moderate-work horse the wholesome, whole-grain nutrition of Purina Omolene 100 Active Pleasure Horse Feed. This textured 10 percent protein horse feed blends whole grains with pelleted fortification and a proprietary vegetable oil and molasses coating, so energy comes from ingredients you can actually see in the scoop and even fussy eaters clean up their meal. Built-in Outlast gastric support helps hold a healthy stomach pH through hauling, weekend shows and schedule changes, while natural antioxidants, phytonutrients and prebiotic fibers round out a ration you feed alongside good hay or pasture.

Key Features

  • Whole grain nutrition: Steady, familiar energy from grains you can see and smell in every bag.
  • Outlast gastric support: Scientifically shown to support gastric health, comfort and proper pH through the stress of travel and competition.
  • Shine and appetite: A proprietary blend of vegetable oil and molasses keeps palatability high and coats glossy.
  • Natural antioxidants: Phytonutrients and prebiotic fibers come along with the quality whole grains.
  • Complete fortification: Supplies 100 percent of required vitamins and minerals when fed as directed with hay or pasture and free-choice salt.
  • Built for pleasure horses: Formulated for maintenance, light work and moderate work rather than hard competition.

Feeding Directions

Feed Omolene 100 with at least 1 to 1.2 lb of clean hay or equivalent pasture per 100 lb of body weight. Start a 1,000 lb horse at roughly 3.5 lb per day for maintenance or light work, or 4.5 lb per day for moderate work; an 800 lb horse starts near 3 to 3.5 lb, and a 1,200 lb horse near 4.25 to 5.25 lb. Watch condition for a couple of weeks, then nudge the amount up or down to hold the weight you want. Do not feed less than 0.3 lb per 100 lb of body weight per day or more than 0.5 lb per 100 lb in any single meal, and never feed free choice. Split the daily ration into at least two feedings at regular times, and make any feed change gradually over 7 to 10 days, shifting no more than 1 lb per horse per day. Keep fresh water and salt in front of your horse at all times. If a horse minimum-fed on Omolene 100 still gains too much weight, move to a ration balancer instead.

Caution: Store the bag in a dry, well-ventilated spot protected from rodents and insects. Never feed moldy or insect-infested feed, which can cause illness, performance loss or death. Feeding added selenium at total diet levels above 0.3 ppm is prohibited. Delay feeding a horse that is hot, excited, in pain, feverish or scouring, and call your veterinarian if problems come up.
