How to Install It
Confirm your gate is built from 1 5/8 in outside-diameter round tube before you start, since this is the Large latch in the Patriot line and the smaller sibling fits 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 in tube. Hang the gate first and let it settle, then mount the latch to the gate end with the included hardware so the handle sits at a comfortable height for you and clears the post when the gate swings. Check that the gate closes cleanly into the latch from both directions before you tighten everything down. Once a season, wipe off grit, check the bolts and give moving parts a light oil so the handle keeps lifting smoothly through winter.
