Description

Carry a real stick welder in one hand with the PrimeWeld STICK225 110v/220v Dual Voltage Stick Welder, a lunchbox-size IGBT inverter machine that weighs about 12 pounds, with a digital power display, Dinse connectors and one MMA/TIG selector button up front. On 220V it delivers up to 160 amps of DC stick output for 3/8-inch steel; the included adapter pigtail runs it on 110V at up to 120 amps for 1/4-inch plate. It burns 6010 and 7018 rods and runs off a generator, so farm and barn repairs are no longer tied to the shop.

Key Features

  • Dual Voltage Input: Runs on 110V or 220V single-phase power, 20-amp breaker on 110V and 30-amp on 220V.
  • Lift TIG Ready: One button switches stick to lift-start TIG; add an optional TIG torch and argon to weld sheet metal as thin as 24 gauge.
  • VRD Safety Circuit: The Voltage Reduction Device drops idle electrode voltage from 62 V to 16 V, lowering shock risk when you work in tight or cluttered spots.
  • What’s in the Box: Welder, 10 ft electrode holder, 10 ft ground clamp, 110V adapter pigtail, hand-held welding mask, chipping hammer with wire brush and reference manual.
  • About PrimeWeld: PrimeWeld is a New Jersey welding equipment company that backs every machine with a 3-year warranty and US-based phone support.

How to Use It

Switch the machine on at the rear, choose MMA with the selector button and plug the electrode holder into the positive Dinse receptacle and the ground clamp into the negative for DC+ polarity. Set amperage to match the rod diameter, clamp the ground to clean metal, then scratch the electrode across the work to strike an arc and travel at a steady pace. Snap the rod away to end the bead, let it cool and knock off the slag with the chipping hammer. Hold the selector for eight seconds in MMA mode to toggle VRD. Keep the vents clear and respect the 60 percent duty cycle.

No. The manufacturer rates it at 10 to 160 amps on 220V power and 10 to 120 amps on 110V power. The 225 is the model name, not the output rating.
The machine has a lift-start TIG mode, but a TIG torch and argon shielding gas are not included. Add a TIG torch kit and you can weld sheet metal down to 24 gauge.
Use a 30-amp circuit on 220V or a 20-amp circuit on 110V. The 220V cord is standard, and the included adapter pigtail lets you plug into a 110V outlet. It also runs off a generator.
The Voltage Reduction Device lowers the idle voltage at the electrode from 62 volts to 16 volts so the stinger is safer to handle between welds. Hold the MMA/TIG selector for eight seconds in stick mode to switch it on or off.
