Description

Seed a new lawn and keep the weeds from moving in ahead of it with ProScape 21-22-4 Starter Fertilizer with Mesotrione 40 lb. This homogeneous granular fertilizer pairs a phosphate-rich starter analysis with 0.08 percent mesotrione, a pre-emergent that controls weeds at seeding time without holding back the new grass. The 21-22-4 analysis means 21 percent nitrogen for top growth and color, 22 percent phosphate for the root development a seedling needs most, and 4 percent potash for stress tolerance. Slow-release nitrogen keeps feeding for weeks after the first flush, so the stand fills in evenly.

Key Features

  • Starter fertilizer plus weed control: One pass feeds a new seeding and lays down pre-emergent protection, a combination that ordinary starter fertilizer cannot offer.
  • 35% slow-release nitrogen: Methylene urea meters out nitrogen over time for steady growth rather than a quick surge and fade.
  • Immediate potassium with sulfur: Potassium sulfate delivers potash right away and adds a small amount of sulfur.
  • Fine, uniform granule: SGN 125 homogeneous prills spread evenly and put every nutrient in each granule, so coverage is consistent.
  • About ProScape: ProScape is the professional turf line from LebanonTurf, the Lebanon, Pennsylvania fertilizer maker that supplies golf courses and landscape contractors.

How to Use It

Apply it when you are establishing turf from seed, whether a brand-new lawn or a full renovation of a thin one. Prepare the seedbed, spread the fertilizer with a rotary or drop spreader at the label rate, then seed and rake lightly so seed and granules sit in the top of the soil. Water to settle everything in and keep the surface moist through germination. The mesotrione holds back weeds while the new grass comes up, so you can skip the usual wait between seeding and weed control. It also serves as a maintenance feeding on established turf. Check the label for the pests controlled, rates, timing and spreader settings, and keep the bag sealed and dry.
