Description

Keep your older horse thriving on Purina Equine Senior Horse Feed, a complete pelleted and extruded senior horse feed with hay fiber built right in. As teeth wear down and long-stemmed hay or pasture stops working, this 50 lb ration steps in as the whole diet or as a partial forage replacement, softening into a warm mash in minutes so an aging horse can still clean up a full meal. Four out of five equine veterinarians recommend it, and every bag carries Purina's ActivAge prebiotic, Amplify high-fat nuggets, and Outlast gastric support.

Key Features

  • Complete feed with hay built in: Highly fermentable fiber from beet pulp and hay replaces all or part of the forage a horse can no longer chew or digest.
  • Easy-soak pellet technology: Manufactured to a specific pellet density so it breaks down into a soft, easy-to-chew mash for horses with worn, loose, or missing teeth.
  • ActivAge prebiotic: Purina's exclusive senior ingredient, studied to support immune function, mobility, and metabolic response in older horses.
  • Outlast gastric support: Supports gastric health and comfort; a 6 lb meal supplies a full serving of Outlast supplement.
  • Amplify high-fat nugget: Multiple fatty acid sources help hold body condition and bring back shine and bloom on a hard keeper.
  • Controlled starch and sugar: Guaranteed at 12% maximum dietary starch and 7% maximum sugars.
  • Vitamin C and B vitamins added: Extra support for horses whose gut is no longer producing what it once did.

Feeding Directions

Fed as the entire diet, start a 1,000 lb horse at about 13.5 lbs per day at maintenance, 14.75 lbs in light work, or 17.25 lbs in moderate work; figure roughly 10.75 lbs and 16.25 lbs for 800 lb and 1,200 lb horses at maintenance. Fed alongside 10 lbs of hay or pasture, that same 1,000 lb horse takes about 7 lbs per day. Adjust by 1.0 lb of feed for every 1.5 lb change in hay, split the daily amount into at least two meals, never feed free choice, and make any change gradually over 7 to 10 days. Keep fresh water and salt available at all times, and soak the pellets if chewing is a struggle.

Caution: Follow label directions. Feeding added selenium at levels in excess of 0.3 ppm in the total diet is prohibited. Wash hands after feeding or handling animals. Not for human consumption. Wash feed and water containers regularly.
