Feeding Directions
Feed a mature 1,000 lb horse 2.0 lbs per day at maintenance or 2.5 lbs per day in light or moderate work, always alongside a minimum of 20 lbs of hay or equivalent pasture. Mares through the second trimester take 2.5 lbs per day. Growing horses need more: 4.0 to 5.0 lbs per day at 4 to 8 months, 3.0 to 4.0 lbs at 9 to 17 months, and 2.5 to 3.0 lbs at 18 to 24 months, with hay scaled to age. For horses well off the 1,000 lb mark, figure 0.2 to 0.4 lbs of balancer per 100 lbs of body weight per day. Feed at regular times in at least two meals, never free choice, and change feeds gradually over 7 to 10 days. Keep clean water and salt available at all times.
Caution: Follow label directions. Feeding added selenium resulting in total diet levels in excess of 0.3 ppm is prohibited.
