Feeding Directions
Because Omolene 400 carries its own high-quality roughage, it can be fed without hay. A 1,000 lb horse at maintenance starts near 10.75 lb per day, moves to about 13 lb in light work and about 15 lb in moderate work, with roughly 11 lb per day through the first 250 days of gestation. An 800 lb horse runs about 8.75 to 12.25 lb depending on workload, and a 1,200 lb horse about 13 to 18.25 lb. If you do feed hay alongside it, reduce the Omolene 400 accordingly. Never drop below 0.6 lb per 100 lb of body weight per day, and keep Omolene 400 plus any hay combined at 1.2 lb per 100 lb of body weight or more to meet fiber needs. When it is the complete ration, three meals a day is best, and no single meal should exceed 0.8 lb per 100 lb of body weight. Change feeds gradually over 7 to 10 days, adjusting by no more than 1 lb per horse per day, and keep water and salt available at all times.
Caution: Store in a dry, well-ventilated place protected from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed to animals, as it may cause illness, performance loss or death. Reduce or delay feeding a horse that is hot, excited, in pain, feverish or scouring, and loop in your veterinarian if problems develop.
