Feeding Directions
Measure with a standard 8 oz / 250 ml cup, which holds roughly 106 g of this formula. Puppies start nibbling solids at 3 to 4 weeks — keep moistened Pro Plan available at all times and let your puppy eat at will until fully weaned at 6 to 8 weeks. After weaning it can be fed moistened or dry. Set a regular schedule: three small meals a day for younger puppies, tapering to a morning and evening feeding as your puppy ages. Keep the routine consistent.
As puppies near adulthood their calorie needs drop and food may be left in the bowl. That is not dislike of the food — offer less so your puppy stays in ideal body condition. Purina research indicates that avoiding overfeeding may help large breed development, so treat the bag chart as a guideline and reduce intake if your puppy becomes overweight. Ask your veterinarian about a weight control program if needed.
This formula also supports reproducing females. Consumption varies through gestation, so feed the amount that maintains ideal body condition; intake may double or quadruple during lactation. When switching to Pro Plan, allow 7 to 10 days, feeding a little less of the old food and a little more Pro Plan each day. Provide clean, fresh water daily.
