Lift oil, grease and ground-in dirt from a driveway, garage floor or patio with Quikrete Concrete & Asphalt Cleaner Concentrate No. 8601, a water-based, acid-free concrete cleaner that also preps a surface for repair. The 1 quart bottle wears the white and yellow Concentrate label and mixes with water at 1:6 for light soil, 1:4 for medium soil, and 1:1 or full strength for heavy build-up, so one bottle stretches across a lot of masonry. Use it anywhere water can be used: poured concrete, asphalt, brick, slate, mortar and tile grout.
Key Features
-
Multi-purpose masonry cleaner: Removes oil, grease and soil from concrete, asphalt, brick, slate, mortar and tile grout, so one quart of Quikrete Concrete & Asphalt Cleaner handles the walk, drive and garage.
-
Repair prep: Cleaning first is the difference between a patch that bonds and one that peels. Use it before Quikrete Vinyl Concrete Patcher, Heavy Duty Masonry Coating, Sand Topping Mix or any resurfacing product.
-
Safer formula: Non-toxic, non-flammable and contains no acid, with no after-odor hanging around the garage when you are done.
-
Dilutable concentrate: Mix 1:6 for light soil, 1:4 for medium, or 1:1 to full strength for heavy oil stains, and adjust to the job instead of buying separate products.
-
About Quikrete: Quikrete manufactures concrete mixes, mortars, patching and resurfacing products, and this cleaner is the recommended first step before its repair products go down.
How to Use It
Sweep the area and decide how dirty it is. For a lightly soiled patio, mix one part cleaner to six parts water; for a greasy garage floor, go 1:1 or use it straight from the bottle. Apply the solution to the stained area, work it in with a stiff brush and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Repeat on stubborn oil spots. Let the surface dry completely before you patch a crack, top a step or apply a masonry coating, because the strongest bond comes from clean, bare concrete. Pick up the 1 gallon size for a whole driveway.

Quikrete Concrete & Asphalt Cleaner Concentrate No. 8601 (quart item 8601-14, UPC 039645860113) is a water-based, acid-free degreaser for concrete, asphalt, masonry, mortar and grout. Spec it as surface prep ahead of Quikrete patching and resurfacing systems, including Vinyl Concrete Patcher 1133, Heavy Duty Masonry Coating 1300 and Sand Topping Mix, where residual oil and soil would compromise bond. Dilution runs 1:6 for light soil to full strength for heavy contamination, so a quart covers routine prep and the gallon size is the pick for full slabs. Section 03 01 00 Maintenance of Concrete.
Key Features
- Broad substrate range: Removes oil, grease and soil build-up from concrete, asphalt, brick, slate, mortar and tile grout; safe on any hard surface where water can be used.
- Bond prep: Cleaning to bare, contaminant-free substrate before patching, topping or coating is the manufacturer's recommended first step for full adhesion.
- Formula: Water-based, no acid, non-toxic, non-flammable, no after-odor; no neutralizing step and no etch on finished concrete.
- Dilution ratios: 1:6 light soil, 1:4 medium soil, 1:1 or full strength heavy soil; dose to the contamination rather than stocking multiple cleaners.
- Documentation: Technical data sheet, safety data sheet and the California ingredient disclosure are attached to this product for submittals.
How to Use It
Sweep and remove loose debris. Mix to the ratio the soil load calls for, apply to the surface, agitate with a stiff brush and rinse with clean water; repeat on heavy petroleum staining. Allow the slab to dry before placing patching compound, topping mix or a masonry coating. Use ahead of sealer application on pavers and flatwork as well, since trapped oil will show through a film-forming sealer. Water-based and non-flammable, so it can be used in enclosed garages and parking structures with normal ventilation. Follow the label directions for dwell time and disposal of rinse water. On tie-in work where new patching material must bond to an existing slab, treat the cleaning step as part of the spec rather than an option; a clean substrate is the manufacturer's stated condition for the strongest bond.
