Description

A glow in the dark kicker toy gives your cat a full-body wrestling partner that stays visible after lights out, and the Quirky Kitty Night Owl Kicker is built exactly for that. Part of the Glowing Forest collection from Quirky Kitty by Petmate, this shaggy teal owl is long enough to grab with the front paws and bunny-kick with the back ones. It is filled with Petmate’s Silvernip blend of North American grown catnip and silvervine, so cats that ignore plain catnip toys still get the message.

Key Features

  • Kicker toy format: An elongated body sized for hugging, biting, and rabbit-kicking, the way cats handle real prey.
  • Glows in the dark: The pale green face and belly panel charge under light and shine in a dim room for nighttime cat toy play.
  • Catnip and silvervine fill: The Silvernip blend combines two attractants, and Petmate notes that among cats that do not react to catnip, 70 percent respond to silvervine.
  • Shaggy plush texture: Curly teal fur, embroidered scallop feathers, and an orange beak and feet give claws and teeth plenty to grip.
  • Feather tail: A soft aqua feather tail adds flutter that draws the eye and invites a pounce.
  • All-natural attractants: The package lists the catnip and silvervine as all-natural.

How to Use

To get the brightest glow, set the owl under bright, direct light for 5 to 10 minutes before an evening play session, then dim the room and let your cat find it. Toss the kicker across the floor or hold it by the feather tail and let your cat wrap all four paws around it. Recharge the glow under light whenever it starts to fade. Between sessions, store the owl in a sealed bag to keep the catnip and silvervine scent strong, and inspect the seams and feather regularly, removing the toy if you see any damage.

After 5 to 10 minutes under bright, direct light the panels glow for a while in a dark room and fade gradually. Set the toy back under a lamp or in sunlight to recharge it before the next session.
It may. The Silvernip fill adds silvervine, and Petmate states that 70 percent of cats that do not respond to catnip do respond to silvervine.
A kicker is longer than it is wide, so a cat can hold it against the chest with the front paws and rake it with the back feet. That mimics how cats subdue prey and burns off energy.
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap and let it air dry. Do not machine wash or soak it, which can wear the glow fabric and wash out the catnip and silvervine scent.
Petmate recommends supervising play with any toy and inspecting it regularly. If the seams tear or the feather comes loose, take the toy away and dispose of it.
