The DV series is Rain Bird’s workhorse for residential and light-commercial installs where city code calls for an upstream pressure vacuum breaker or double-check assembly — the valve handles the on/off, the backflow device handles the cross-connection protection. 1 in. Install Notes
- Always wire the solenoid AFTER the controller is powered off — the DC pulse from a hot controller can latch the wrong state
- Pipe-thread sealant or Teflon tape is fine on the NPT inlet/outlet — the body is glass-filled nylon, no overtorque issues
- Mount with the flow-direction arrow pointed downstream
- For low-flow drip / Xerigation zones, add an RBY-100MX (1 in. wye filter) upstream to prevent diaphragm seat fouling at low velocities
- If the zone is on a battery controller (TBOS-II, WPX, ESP-LXIVM), order Rain Bird latching solenoid p/n DV-LATCH separately
What About the DVF (Flow Control)?
The 100DV is the standard model — full on/off only. The 100DVF model adds a manual flow-control stem on top so you can dial in the flow rate per zone (useful for matched-precip mixes or rotor zones that hammer). If you need flow control, ask us about the 100DVF.
