Description
Splice two pieces of drip tubing back into one line with the Rain Bird XBF1CONN 1/4 in. Barb Coupling. The straight plastic connector carries a barb on each end sized for 1/4 in. XQ distribution tubing, so a nicked line, a too-short run or a coil that needs extending is fixed in seconds. Its barbs are self-piercing as well, which means the coupling can start a new branch straight out of 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. tubing, and the stem on the body seats cleanly with the Xeriman tool. Rugged plastic construction stands up to sun, soil and season after season of use.

How to Use It
Cut out the damaged section of 1/4 in. tubing with clean square cuts, push a barb into each open end and press until the tubing rides over the barb. To extend a run, join the new coil to the old with the same push-on motion. For a fresh branch off the main line, set the coupling on the Xeriman tool, pierce the 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. tubing, pull the tool away and push distribution tubing onto the exposed barb. Keep zone pressure at or below 50 psi and flush the line before adding emitters so no grit lodges in the fitting. Stock a handful of couplings with your emitters; they are the fitting you reach for most when a mower or a shovel finds the drip line.
