Description
Turn a tight corner in a drip line without kinking the tubing with the Rain Bird XBF2EL 1/4 in. Barb Elbow. This small right-angle transfer fitting has a barb on each leg for 1/4 in. XQ distribution tubing, letting a line follow the edge of a raised bed or wrap around a container rather than looping wide. The barbs are self-piercing, so the same elbow can also tap directly into 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. tubing, and a stem on the body lets you drive it home with the Xeriman tool. Molded from rugged plastic, it holds tight through summer heat and winter blowouts.
Key Features
- 1/4 in. barb x barb elbow: Joins two runs of XQ distribution tubing at a 90-degree angle.
- Self-piercing barbs: Punch straight into 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. drip tubing to start a branch line.
- Tool-friendly stem: Shaped for quick, simple installation with the XM-TOOL Xeriman tool.
- Drip-zone rated: Works from 0 to 50 psi with polyethylene tubing.
- About Rain Bird: The XBF2EL belongs to Rain Bird’s 1/4 in. barb transfer fitting family with the XBF1CONN coupling and XBF3TEE tee.
How to Use It
Cut the 1/4 in. tubing square where the line needs to change direction, push one leg of the barb elbow into each end and press until the tubing seats past the barb. To start a branch from the main line, set the elbow on the Xeriman tool, pierce the 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. tubing and pull the tool away, then push distribution tubing onto the free barb. Use elbows at the corners of rectangular beds and at the base of pots so the tubing lies flat and stays out of sight under mulch. Keep zone pressure at or below 50 psi. Pair the elbow with couplings for straight repairs and tees where a line splits, and keep a few spares on hand for mid-season changes.
