How to Use

Feed by weight against body weight, at 0.40 to 0.60 lb per 100 lb daily for mature horses in light exercise, 0.45 to 0.70 lb in moderate exercise, 0.60 to 0.80 lb in heavy exercise and 0.70 to 1.30 lb in very heavy exercise. Rescue and senior horses take 0.60 to 1.25 lb per 100 lb. Split the total across two or more feedings and adjust for condition, management and breed. Offer good-quality hay or pasture, free-choice salt and plenty of fresh water. Store in a cool, dry place and use the bag while fresh. Contains supplemental copper – do not feed to sheep.

Blend it into the current feed over seven to ten days, shifting roughly a quarter of the ration every two days. Start at the low end of the range for the horse's workload and build up while watching body condition and manure. Weigh the feed rather than scooping, since one quart holds only about 0.85 lb.
It targets equine athletes in moderate through very heavy work and horses with elevated calorie needs, including hard keepers and rescue horses coming back into condition. Kent also recommends it where digestive or metabolic health is a concern, thanks to 10.5% maximum starch. Easy keepers that hold weight on hay alone are better served by a ration balancer.
Crude protein is 12.0% minimum, lower than most performance feeds, because the calories come from 12% fat and fermentable fiber instead of grain and protein. That suits horses already getting decent-quality hay. Guaranteed lysine, methionine and threonine mean the protein present is high quality rather than merely abundant.
Keep the bag closed in a cool, dry place off the barn floor and use it while fresh, as the feed is perishable.
