Description

Put together your own test leads, jumper wires and battery charger connections with the Service Tool 28 PC Alligator & Charging Clip Kit. Twenty-two alligator clips in three sizes and six red and black charging clips rated at 5 and 15 amps fill a hinged clear clamshell case with divided compartments, sorted by size and color so the right clip is easy to find. Alligator clips grab a wire, a terminal or a fuse blade for a quick electrical test, while the larger charging clips clamp onto battery posts for chargers and maintainers. Keep this Tool City clip kit near the multimeter and the battery charger.

Key Features

  • Alligator clips in three sizes: ten 2" mini clips for tight spots, plus three red and three black each at 1" and 1-3/4" for test leads and jumpers.
  • Charging clips in two ratings: a red and black pair at 5 amps for small maintainers and two red and two black at 15 amps for heavier battery chargers.
  • Red and black color coding: keep positive and negative leads straight when you rebuild a charger cable or make up a set of jumpers.
  • Organized storage: the divided clamshell case keeps nine clip types apart and hangs from a peg in the shop.
  • About Service Tool: Tool City is the house label of Service Tool Co., LLC, a supplier of hardware, fastener and electrical assortments packed in reusable clamshell cases under the promise of quality, value and satisfaction guaranteed.

How to Use It

Match the clip to the job before you start. Solder or crimp the 1" and 1-3/4" alligator clips onto lengths of hookup wire to make jumpers for bench testing lights, switches and small motors, and use the 2" mini clips where a larger jaw would short against a neighboring terminal. To replace worn clamps on a battery charger, cut off the old clip, attach the red 15 amp clip to the positive lead and the black to the negative, and confirm the charger output does not exceed the clip rating. Disconnect power before clipping onto any live circuit, and never let red and black jaws touch.
