How to Use It
Slip a flat washer under the head of a bolt or screw and another under the nut whenever the fastener bears on wood, plastic, sheet metal or a painted finish. Use the small #6, #8 and #10 washers with machine screws on brackets, hinges and electrical boxes, and the 1/4" through 3/8" sizes under lag bolts, carriage bolts and hex bolts on fence hardware, gate hinges, deck brackets and equipment frames. Choose a washer whose hole just clears the fastener shank; too large a hole and the washer shifts under load. Pair a flat washer with a lock washer or nylon lock nut on anything that vibrates, and refill the case from the label counts when a size runs low.
