Description
SRW Mulch Stabilizer™ locks fresh mulch in place and keeps it looking that way for the rest of the season. The water-based polymer dries clear, forms a flexible bond around the chips, and helps stop wash-outs from rain and irrigation — so the mulch you spread Friday is still where you put it on Monday. As a bonus it darkens and revives mulch color, slows fading, and helps suppress weed germination on the bed surface. Two sizes: 1 gallon for residential beds and touch-ups, 5 gallons for crews running larger commercial installations.
Why Crews Stabilize Mulch
- Locks mulch in place: Stops wash-outs from heavy rain, irrigation, and downspout splash — especially on slopes and around drains
- Dries clear, flexible bond: No glossy plastic-coated look; the bonded layer flexes with seasonal expansion instead of cracking
- Color enhancement: Darkens and revives faded mulch — saves a top-dressing pass mid-season
- Reduces fading: UV-resistant binder keeps the color richer longer
- Helps prevent weed growth: The crusted surface slows weed seed contact and germination on the bed
- Easy to apply: Spray on with a heavy-duty construction sprayer; no special equipment
- Low VOC, water-based: Cleans up with water; safe around plantings when applied as directed
Coverage & Application
Coverage: up to 200 sq ft per gallon (single coat). A second coat doubles the bond strength and is recommended for slopes or high-wash zones.
Prep: Press mulch in place to compact the bed, then lightly water to improve binder penetration. Apply with a slow, even, saturating coat from a heavy-duty construction sprayer. Allow first coat to dry 2 hours before recoat. Cure: 24 hours without rain or sprinklers; max bond strength after 24 hours. Apply when temperatures will hold between 50°F–80°F (10°C–26°C) for 48 hours before and after.
