Description
Call the family in for dinner with the Sunset Vista Designs Wilderness Wonders Moose Bell. A dark brown cast-iron moose stands on a patch of green grass above a scrolled bracket, and a rust-red bell hangs beneath it with a clapper and pull cord. The openwork mounting plate sits flat against a wall or post, so the bell swings freely when you tug the cord. About 14" tall and 8" wide, it has the heft and ring of an old farmhouse bell and suits a cabin, lodge or lake house.
Key Features
- Cast iron: Heavy powder-coated cast iron with a rust-resistant finish, built to hang outside for years.
- Moose topper: A painted moose on a green base stands above a scrolled bracket, part of the Wilderness Wonders collection.
- Pull cord: A cord on the clapper rings the bell with one tug, ready to call family and guests in for dinner or quiet a crowd for a toast.
- Wall mount: The decorative back plate fastens to a wall, post or door frame and holds the bell out where it can swing.
- Sunset Vista Designs: A family-run outdoor decor company that has been designing whimsical garden art, wind chimes and hanging decor for garden centers since the 1990s.
How to Hang It
Mount it beside the back door, on a porch post, a deck rail or the side of a shed, at a height where an adult can reach the cord and children cannot swing on it. Fasten the back plate to solid wood or masonry with hardware suited to the surface, and check that the bell clears the wall by a few inches so it rings cleanly. The powder-coated finish resists rust, so it can stay out through the seasons; wipe it with a dry cloth now and then and let any light weathering add to the rustic look. Pair it with other Sunset Vista Designs Wilderness Wonders pieces for a coordinated cabin porch.
A Thoughtful Gift
Dinner bells make a memorable housewarming gift for a new cabin, lake house or hunting camp, and a fun one for anyone who has ever hollered across the yard at suppertime. It arrives ready to mount.
