Description
Feed a gentler forage with Triple Crown Naturals Alfalfa-Timothy Forage Cubes, which blend pre and mid bloom non-GMO alfalfa with premium timothy hay cut while it is still immature and at its nutritional peak. The timothy pulls protein back to 12% and pushes fiber to 32%, so this is the cube to reach for when straight alfalfa is richer than your horse needs but you still want dependable, clean forage in the tub.
Key Features
- Alfalfa and timothy together: A more moderate protein and calorie level than straight alfalfa cubes, easier to feed in quantity to an easy keeper.
- Two ingredients, nothing else: Dehydrated alfalfa and timothy hay, with no molasses and no soy.
- Immature timothy: Harvested early, so the fiber is still digestible rather than stemmy and spent.
- Virtually dust free: Dehydration cuts the dust and mold that aggravate a horse with airway trouble.
- Non-GMO: Sourced to the Naturals standard, with no artificial colors or preservatives.
- Soaks into a mash: Warm water softens the cubes for senior horses, worn teeth or a horse that tends to choke.
Feeding Directions
- To supplement hay or pasture: 4-6 lb per day for a 1,000 lb horse.
- As a complete hay replacement: 1.5 to 2% of body weight per day.
Soak the cubes in warm water into a mash for older horses, horses with poor teeth or any horse prone to choke. Feed from a tub at ground level so your horse can eat with their head down the way they would graze. Bring cubes into the ration over a week or so rather than switching in one day, and keep an eye on a fast eater until you know they are chewing rather than gulping. Provide salt and plenty of fresh, clean water at all times. Store somewhere cool and dry, check the product daily, and do not use it if it is old, moldy or contaminated with insects.
