Description

Help an older horse hold condition with Triple Crown Senior, a beet pulp based feed built for horses whose teeth and gut no longer get much out of hay. This 50 lb bag carries 14% protein, 10% fat, and 17% fiber at roughly 1,546 kcal per pound, with no whole grains anywhere in the formula. There is enough bulk fiber in it to serve as a sole ration for a horse that can no longer eat hay or pasture, and it soaks down into a soft mash for horses that struggle to chew or are prone to choke.

Key Features

  • Beet pulp based and whole grain free: Calories come from fiber and fat instead of cereal grains, which keeps starch at 6.4% and ESC sugars at 5.3%.
  • High fat for weight gain: 10% crude fat from soybean oil, flaxseed, and stabilized rice bran puts condition back on a thin horse.
  • Feeds as a complete ration: Enough long-stem-replacement fiber to be fed alone when a horse cannot manage hay.
  • Makes an EZ Mash: Add water 10 to 15 minutes before feeding for horses with poor teeth, respiratory trouble, or a history of choke.
  • Gut support built in: 2.50 billion CFU per pound of live microbials plus added cellulase and protease enzymes.
  • Balanced omegas and amino acids: 0.60% omega-3 and 3.50% omega-6, with guaranteed lysine, methionine, and threonine for muscle maintenance.

Feeding Directions

Feed by body weight, and count the hay. A horse still eating forage takes 4 to 5 lb per day at 600 lb, 5 to 10 lb at 900 lb, 6 to 12 lb at 1,100 lb, and 7 to 14 lb at 1,300 lb, alongside a minimum of 9 to 26 lb of forage over that same range. For a horse that is no longer eating hay or pasture at all, raise the feed to 7.5 to 9.5 lb per day at 600 lb, 10.5 to 14.5 lb at 900 lb, 13.5 to 17.5 lb at 1,100 lb, and 16.5 to 20.5 lb at 1,300 lb. Never feed more than 0.50% of body weight in a single meal, and leave 3 to 4 hours between meals when you are feeding that much. If you end up feeding less than the recommended amount, add a Triple Crown Balancer to fill the vitamin and mineral gap. Keep salt and fresh water in front of the horse, store the bag cool and dry, and check it daily — discard it if it is old, moldy, or insect damaged.

Caution: Follow label directions. This product contains copper — do not feed it to sheep.
