Description

Wipe your horse down fast after a ride or a bath with the Weaver Leather Plastic Sweat Scraper, a flexible one-piece scraper in bright Lime that is easy to spot in a grooming tote. The contoured blade follows the curve of the neck, shoulder and barrel, so each pass pulls off sweat and rinse water instead of pushing it around. At 1-1/2 in. wide and 17 in. long, it is small enough to keep in a wash-rack bucket and light enough for younger riders to handle, and a hole at the end lets you hang it on a hook.

Key Features

  • Contoured scraper edge: The curved profile sits flat against your horse’s coat and lifts water with less effort than a straight blade.
  • Quick drying after a bath: A few strokes remove most of the rinse water so the coat dries faster and stays cleaner.
  • Hang hole: Hang the scraper on the wash-rack wall or a grooming bag hook so it is ready for the next horse.
  • Plastic sweat scraper: Lightweight plastic will not rust and rinses clean with a splash of water.
  • About Weaver Leather: Weaver Leather’s Weaver Equine line covers stable supplies from grooming tools to halters and hay bags, and this scraper is one of its everyday wash-rack basics.

How to Use It

Start at the neck and work back toward the hindquarters, holding the scraper at a shallow angle and pulling it along the direction of hair growth in long, steady strokes. Ease up over the bony areas of the face, spine and legs, and skip the head entirely; use a towel there instead. After a hot ride, scrape sweat off before the horse cools so the coat does not dry stiff and salty. After a bath, scrape the bulk of the water away first and then finish with a towel. Rinse the scraper and hang it by the hole, and keep it with your brushes in a Weaver grooming bag at the trailer.
